Where Land, Sea & Craft Collide
Hand carved from 5 inch think, richly coloured deep burnt orange, mahogany wood. This console echoes Sri Lanka’s ever-changing shores—where the Indian Ocean shapes the land, sculpting and redefining over time with its radical era shifts in cultures and ideologies with ever passing colonial era.
The dovetails are hand-made and carved away after, which some might consider a bold choice, but in our opinion, this only adds an extra layer of depth and character to the furniture. Every line has been hand-drawn and meticulously carved, ensuring that even the smallest corner of the cabinet receives the utmost care and attention. Just like the beauty of Sri Lanka, it is rooted deeper than the surface — this is why the inside of the cabinet is also thoughtfully carved.
This entirely solid mahogany cabinet is built to last a lifetime. Its elegant yet intimidating appearance is so striking that it commands attention with effortless sophistication. The doors open with a push-to-open mechanism, turning smoothly on ball-bearing pivot hinges. This piece is not just a storage unit, it is a true work of functional art, designed to be used and admired for generations.
Like the coastline, craft is never still. It evolves, adapts, and transforms—rooted in history, rendered for the future. The motion of the movement of the shoreline is crisply depicted with each wave of wood. Making this piece truly a collectors signature item.
